OSCARS 2025: Complete list of winners (live update)
The 2025 Oscar are finally here and are ready to crown some winners after a season of sinuous awards.
Unlike last year, when “Oppenheimer” dominated each important precursor, circuit 2025 has seen a rotating door of friends. “Emilia Pérez” by Netflix, a musical about a drug trafficker who undergoes surgery that affirms the genre, led the way with 13 Oscar nominations, followed by the architectural epic of A24 “The Brutalist” and the Broadway adaptation of Universal “Wicked” with 10 each. However, the Oscar’s opportunities of “Emilia Pérez” received a success after a controversy in social networks broke out on offensive tweets passed by the nominated main actress Karla Sofía Gascón.
Now, the best image race seems more uncertain. “Conclave”, the focus presents a drama on a papal choice, won the best awards at the SAG and BAFTA ceremonies last week, while “The Brutalist” won the Golden Globe for the best drama. Meanwhile, “Anora”, Neon Comedy-Drama about a sex worker trapped by the executors of a Russian oligarch, received the best prizes from the PGA, DGA and WGA. The other best image contenders are “a complete stranger”, “Dune: the second part”, “I’m still here”, “Nickel Boys” and “The substance”.
The category of best actor seems to be a career between Adrien Brody, who played an immigrant architect in “The Brutalist”, and Timothée Chalamet, who played Bob Dylan in “a complete stranger.” They also face Colman Domingo (“Sing Sing”), Ralph Fiennes (“conclave”) and Sebastian Stan (“The apprentice”).
In the best actress, Demi Moore seems to be the favorite to play an aged actress who takes a suspicious youth serum in “The Sustance”, but the star of “Anora” Mikey Madison is also in the mixture. Cynthia Erivo (“Wicked”), Karla Sofía Gascón (“Emilia Pérez”) and Fernanda Torres (“I’m still here”) are also in the race.
